Volcanos cave in Agios Dimitrios

VOLCANOS CAVE

The Volcanos cave is located in the area Dokanous in Agios Dimitrios. The entrance of the cave measures 2.3 x 2.7 meters. Behind the main hall, on the left-hand side, there is an underlying room of 14 metres. It runs down into a narrow hole. On the right-hand side there is a 5 metres long underlying room. It runs down into a narrow and deep chasm.

The cave is filled with large rocks. The temperature inside the cave is significantly lower than in other caves in Corfu.

The most beautiful decoration of the cave can be found in the main hall and on the lower areas of both rooms: near the narrow hole on the left part of the cave and near the chasm on the right part of the cave.
